Kristin Brogan is a lecturer in German and Intercultural Communication since 1994 at the ITT. Since 2003 she has been participating as Coordinator and Quality Manager in EU funded projects in the area of online languages. Prior to this she organised LdV funded placements for incoming and outgoing students. Since 2012 she is involved with the Council of Europe by being a team member in ECML projects.
She is currently the Chair of “One Voice for Languages” group: (2013 - ). She has been a member of the Expert Group for Future Skills Needs' steering group of the project Key Skills for Enterprise to Trade Internationally and has also been the representative for Ireland (DES) in the EU Commission working group “Languages for Jobs” (June 2010 – July 2011) and in the follow-on working group “Languages in Education and Training” (2012 – 2014).
She was the co-ordinator with the Head of the Language Department (Dr. G. Herlt) of the Goethe-Institut Dublin of PR material; DVD and brochures for “German – a language of opportunity – An Irish perspective”
Since 2005 she is registered as a PhD student; researching language and intercultural skills acquisition during the residence abroad.
She is a member of the German Studies Association of Ireland (previously Co-Chair), IRAAL, Business German Ireland and the working group for the promotion of German at the German Embassy.
In May 2006 together with her colleague Dr. Riana Walsh from ITTD she founded the IoTs Languages Strategy Network, which has 11 Institutes as its members. The network’s website is:
