Maryanne Galindo is an Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Basic Skills and the Vice-Chair of Academic Connections at Los Angeles Trade Technical Community College (LATTC) in California, USA. She teaches Fundamentals for Workplace Success, Communication and Leadership, Teamwork, Computer Literacy, GED Preparation and Community Planning Courses. Maryanne also facilitates workshops for new students on social and emotional intelligence, strategies for sustaining motivation and tools for enhancing existing strengths in order to complete educational and career goals.

Maryanne coordinates educational services for local community based agency partners and high schools to support bridging students to the campus. She has supported LATTC’s Career Advancement Academy, Utilities & Construction Program. Maryanne was the Team Leader for LATTC’s Faculty Inquiry Network and currently provides professional development training for faculty and industry partners.

Maryanne is a graduate from California State University Los Angeles (CSULA) with a degree in Psychology. She is certified as a Youth and Gang Violence Intervention Specialist from CSULA and has a Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership from Union Institute and University.

Maryanne is a consultant for Ubuntu Leadership, L.L.C. which provides customized leadership development training for community enhancement and organizational advancement. Our company is committed to enlivening the interplay between education, culture, and leadership using proprietary competency tools: Formula for Leadership and Community Enhancement, 3D Storytelling, and Benchmarks of Healing. Maryanne has served on the Boards of the Gathering for Justice – a national organization founded by Mr. Harry Belafonte, whose focus is the prevention of the incarceration and criminalization of youth – and on the Board of Success, “A New Beginning,” Inc., based in South Central Los Angeles which supports local residents in healing from trauma, enhancing their leadership skills, increasing their civic engagement, and developing their social entrepreneurship ventures.

Maryanne is a Cuban-American woman, born in Los Angeles, California and raised in a multicultural home. With the support of a unique family of activists, she began her career in community development at the age of 17 as a youth facilitator and discovered a deep passion to advocate for creating space for youth voice, youth leadership and healing from trauma. Since 1991, Maryanne has worked for non-profit, community-building agencies throughout the County of Los Angeles in 6 key areas including: community organizing; gang intervention/violence prevention; leadership development; policy advocacy/civic engagement; social entrepreneurship; and cultural exchanges in local, national and international communities.
