Larisa Ilinska is the Professor of Philology, the Head of the Institute of Applied Linguistics of Riga Technical University (RTU) since 1999. After receiving a PhD degree from the University of Saint-Petersburg in 1979, she joined RTU as an Assistant Professor. Her research interests lie in semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, translation of scientific and technical texts. She delivers the study courses in scientific writing, terminology, lexicology, modern methods of text analysis, etc. She is the author of more than 50 publications, including four resource books for students majoring in different scientific and technical domains. L. Ilinska is a certified auditor/expert in training (Det Norske Veritas). Professor Larisa Ilinska is an honorary member of the Latvian Association of Interpreters and Translators. L. Ilinska is also an expert of the Latvian Academy of Sciences.
