Katerina Strnadova works as the coordinator of Italian courses at the Institute of Applied Language Studies.
She holds a PhD in the Theory and History of Science and Technology, with a focus on the history of science in the literary works of Umberto Eco, and an MA in Italian Philology, concentrating on ICT tools in language teaching.
Since the academic year 2003, she has worked at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen as a coordinator and teacher of Italian courses, as well as coordinator of the International Summer Language School and the Student Professional Conference in Foreign Languages. At the same time, she is engaged as a teacher of Italian language at the Conservatory of Pilsen, where she works primarily with opera singers. She is a member of Associazione amici dell“Italia.
Katerina Strnadova worked for 20 years as a freelance translator and interpreter from Italian and Czech, with a specialization in legal translations.
She is the author of various e-learning courses, digital teaching materials, and a database for an Italian-Czech thematic dictionary.
Her research interests have also recently included language aspects in the dance-experience system Biodanza, and she is the author of the monograph Language in Biodanza.
