PhD in Education, in the specialization area of Administration and Educational Policy, she has been teaching and researching in the area of school administration and management and in the area of public education policies. Author of several publications in this area.
His PhD thesis, entitled Actors, regulation and knowledge in public policies of school buildings in Portugal: open area schools, won the Institute of Education / Caixa Geral de Depósitos Award for the Best PhD Thesis in 2015.
Professor in Higher Education since 2000, she has collaborated with institutions such as the Open University, the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon and the Higher Institute of Education and Sciences, where she assumes the duties of Director of the School of Education.
President of the European Forum of Educational Administration between 2012 and 2014 and currently is Vice-President of the Portuguese Forum of Educational Administration.
