Mercedes Aznar holds a Degree in Anglo-German Philology and a Cum Laude PhD. in English Philology from the University of Valencia.
Since 1996, she has been teaching the subjects dealing with English for Specific Purposes in the Degrees of Mechanical Engineering; Electronic Engineering and Automation; Business Administration; Finance and Accountancy; Primary Education; and Early Childhood Education at Florida Universitaria (Catarroja, Valencia, Spain). Likewise, she guest lectured on Cross-Cultural Understanding in Destination Perspective in 2010 at Tietgen Business School (Odense, Denmark) and Cross-Cultural Communication: The Invisible Barrier in 2017 at Lillebaelt University of Applied Sciences (Odense, Denmark).
She has been participating continually in a number of European-funded projects since 2002 in distinct areas such as English Language Teaching; international culture in tourism; fostering employment for graduates; biotechnology and entrepreneurism; ICTs and their impact on SMEs; and at present, social innovation addressed to migrants or refugees in the tourism region of Ruppiner Seeland (Germany).
Concerning non-academic involvement, she is the former Vice-President of SPACE Network (a European organization of higher education institutions); and now, she is the Vice-President of AFEMCUAL (a Spanish organization for the promotion of professional qualifications and employment).
Her lines of research revolve around teaching methodologies, motivation and collaborative work; cross-cultural communication in business; innovation in tourism; training, qualifications and employment. Related to these, she has presented several articles and keynote speeches both in national and international conferences. She has also published in international journals and other publications. Moreover, she has been a regular member of Scientific Committees for certain international Conferences since 2011.
