Panayiota Georgiou Josephidou is the Head of the Greek Department at Silverline Private School located in Limassol, Cyprus. Silverline Private school is an international school delivering the English National Curriculum to Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary students.

Panayiota is an experienced, enthusiastic Greek teacher who loves teaching Modern Greek as a First and as a Foreign Language. She teaches Latin, Ancient Greek, Greek Culture & Literature, Philosophy, History, Linguistics, and Art to children and adults of all ages. Panayiota has been working for nineteen years in the private sector and has always been interested in developing new interactive teaching methods and digital learning materials to make her lessons fun experiences.

She has graduated from Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki in Greece with a Bachelor’s Degree in Greek Literature, specialized in Linguistics and is a holder of a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) / Saint Louis University (USA). Recently, Panayiota has completed another Master's Degree entitled Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) from Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). This has helped her improve her teaching skills by applying new technologies and researching the field of language teaching and learning, Second Language Acquisition, Language Teaching Methodologies, Language Assessment & Testing, L2 Curriculum Development & Evaluation, and Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL).

The title of her Dissertation Thesis which Panayiota will be presenting in the International Conference in Florence is ¨Digital Storytelling as support for teaching Greek as an FL/L2 to adolescents”. The purpose of this research was to investigate how the use of Digital Storytelling enhanced the teaching of Greek as a Foreign Language and what benefits and challenges learners experienced when creating digital stories together. It added the specific use of Microsoft Sway application and added to the literature because it utilized a specific program which proved to be an incentive for students. It aligned to the previous research conducted in terms of the importance of students collaborating and using cooperative learning to create work together which is Panayiota’s main research interest and which she will keep investigating to improve students’ skills in learning Greek as an FL/L2.
