Margaret Gomes

Margaret Gomes is a lecturer at the Department of Languages & Cultures of the University of Aveiro in Portugal. She graduated from King's College London with degree in Human Biology, followed by a Postgraduate Degree in Education. After completing the RSA certificate to teach English as a foreign language to adults, she moved to Portugal. She worked British Council before becoming a lecturer at the University of Aveiro. She has taught on the education degrees and supervised teaching practice, but is now teaching Business English and Translation. She completed her Masters in English studies and her PhD in Cultural Studies, which focuses on how young people use English in their native discourse to forge a local/global identity. Her research interests lie mainly in the areas of quality in higher education, culture and identity.
