Philipp Etzlinger is the founder and CEO of uugot.it. uugot.it is an application which combines authentic TV content and interactive subtitles to create an innovative language course.
Philipp graduated in Financial Management and Controlling at Austria's Leading University of Applied Sciences for Management & Communication, FH Wien, and can already look back on a diverse career in finance. He has always been interested in language learning and once, staying abroad, he had the idea of transforming videos and television shows into a compelling and entertaining language course – by implementing interactive subtitles. When he got back to Vienna he pursued his idea.
In 2015 the University of Vienna did a meta-study on "Language Learning with Subtitles", and highlighted this approach as an essential tool for learning languages. Educational institutions such as the Wiener Volkshochschulen, VHS Linz or bfi OÖ (AT) and universities like UNAM (MX), UFRP (BR) or UNRC (AR) are already implementing uugot.it in their language courses as a complementary tool. uugot.it is designed as well for autodidacticism as well as for language courses.
