Jana Lokajová is a university teacher of English for Specific Purposes in the field of mechanical engineering, and Slovak language for international students in Department of Languages, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Slovak University of Technology, Bratislava. She is also a PhD candidate at Charles University, Prague in the Department of Slavonic Philology where her research focuses on political discourse.
Jana has teaching experience as a visiting scholar from University of Pittsburgh, Dietrich School of Arts where she conducted her research into technical discourse lexicology under the tutorage of Dr. John Smart and Prof. Alan Juffs (2015). During her one-semester research project abroad, she was also given an opportunity to teach Slovak language to foreign students under the guidance of the late Prof. Martin Votruba.
Since 2018 Jana has been leading an IEEE certified e-learning project on behalf of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, STU, to examine engineering students´ satisfaction relating to the existing modules. She has been also involved as a research member of the KEGA project granted by the Cultural and Educational Grant Agency MŠVVaŠ SR with focus on ESP.
Jana is also an official, court translator for English and Slovak language aiding Slovak Ministry of Justice in cases of need with translation of legal and business documents.
Jana is a fluent speaker of four languages, English, French, Slovak and Czech and she gained a certificate attesting her speech competence in French (DELF, B2).
Her areas of interest include, English for Specific Purposes (ESP), political discourse, political sciences, second-language acquisition.
