New Perspectives in Science Education

The aim of conducting the present study was to find out the impact of emotional expression on anxiety and life satisfaction among adolescents. The sample of adolescents (N = 200; Males = 100, Females = 100), age range between 15 to 18 years (Mage = 17.00, SD 1.25) were taken from different schools and colleges of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Purposive Sampling Technique was used to get the sample of 200 students. Emotional Expression among students was measured by using Emotional expressivity questionnaire developed by (Kring, Smith & Neale,1994) and Beck Anxiety Inventory developed by (Beck, Epstein, Brown, & Steer, 1988) was used. Life Satisfaction among students was measured by Satisfaction with Life Scale developed by (Diener, Emmons, Larsen, & Griffin, 1985). Pearson correlation, Linear Regression and t- test were applied to test the hypotheses. The data was analyzed by SPSS version 21. The findings of this study revealed that emotional expression significantly negatively predicted anxiety and significantly positively predicted life satisfaction. The study also concludes that emotional expression and anxiety are higher in female adolescents as compared to male adolescents, while life satisfaction is higher in male adolescents.
