Pere Juàrez, University of Barcelona (Spain)
Abstract
In recent years, the idea that play in workplaces yields creative outcomes has spread over the business community; based on the belief that aiming to improve organizational creativity, companies are incorporating new managerial practices based on play.
This proposal draws on the theory of constructivism, play and learn, addressed to teach and prepare students in entrepreneurship and innovation in organizational settings, and to get to understand by
practice – using EGO® Serious Play® method and GENIE® method -the key elements and skills where to develop this activity.
Our first results provide findings of benefit for students, attendants, and organizations that are about to get involved with play. Play influence positively influences team/organizational creativity.
From the University of Barcelona, the adaptation of LEGO® Serious® Play® and GENIE®, under the name of INSPIREO® workshops, can be used as an innovative facilitated teaching methodology to aid in the innovation and entrepreneurship development of people.
Participants develop an awareness of key elements of creative leadership through metaphoric storytelling (story making), affording visual clarity for sharing the value of knowledge in a safe psychological learning environment.
