Abstract
In 2025, Ukrainian STEM education celebrates Its 10th anniversary. This is a great opportunity to summarize the first results of the STEM implementation in Ukraine and analyze progress, results, problems and prospects. Despite the fact that the last years of the Ukrainian STEM education formation fell on the period of the COVID-19 pandemic and military aggression, the reform continues, STEM teachers demonstrate resilience and commitment to the ideas of human capital development for the future of their country. Since 2018, STEM education has been part of the Ukrainian Educational Reforms known as the "New Ukrainian School" (NUS). This is a landmark initiative for Ukraine aimed at transforming general secondary education in order to equip students with 21st century skills. A significant result of the activities of innovative teachers in the field of STEM was the consolidation of the STEM acronym in the state educational standard, the development and implementation of the interdisciplinary STEM program. This is an initiative that came from below and received support from a wide range of practicing teachers. Today, a Ukrainian National Educational Curriculum of basic secondary education (5-9 Grs) includes a number of STEM educational programs for grades 5-6 (adaptive learning cycle) and grades 7-9 (subject study cycle). The authors offer a comparative study of existing programs in Ukraine and approaches to implementing STEM education tasks within the framework of the new state standard in Ukraine in 2022-2025.
