Greening Aluminum Anodisation Electrolytic Process - An Educational Approach Aided by AI Tools
Agoritsa Konstanti, National Technical University of Athens (Greece)
Abstract
In the present work, a traditional aluminum anodisation laboratory experiment for University students is transformed to a greener electrolytic process. The proposed experiment refers to an environmental-friendly approach for aluminum anodisation, considering a combination of green chemistry principles. Students, after conducting the tradional anodising experiment and after understanding the electrolytic process in depth, proceed in the design of a greener experiment. Throughout the design procedure they are urged to pose questions to AI platforms, aided this way to expend their original ideas, gain info about other relevant references and research works in the field, import images for their experimental procedure and chemical apparatus, generate lab reports, compare measurements acquired through the traditional and the green anodization process, proceed to statistical analysis of results. Evaluating the two electrolytic processes, an optimized educational approach aided by AI tools is proposed, considering green chemistry principles for chemical engineering students.
