Elaine Galvin is a PhD student studying in the University of Limerick, Ireland.

She studied a Bachelor of Science Education in Biological Sciences with Chemistry at the University of Limerick and graduated in 2012 with a first class honours degree.

She did her final year project on Biological misconceptions among second level students and teachers in Ireland.

She is currently funded by the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology.

At present she is carrying out research in the area of Biological misconceptions present among students, pre-service teachers and qualified teachers. The aim of her research is to help teachers become more aware of misconceptions and provide them with the skills and resources to identify and overcome them in their own classrooms.
