New Perspectives in Science Education

MaryJean has been a professor at Adelphi University for 21 years. Initially, she served as an adjunct and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor. She taught elementary and upper elementary science for 13 years, serving as her school's science coordinator for ten of those years. MaryJean has keen interests in science inquiry and environmental stewardship. She, along with Adelphi colleagues, supports professional development in high needs districts. She was honored as Adelphi University Student Government Association Professor of The Year and as an Outstanding Woman Leader by the Center for Student Involvement in 2013-2014. Additionally, she was awarded the
Adelphi University Adjunct Professor Teaching Excellence Award in 2007. She is married to Bob McCarthy for 27 years and has four adult children.
