New Perspectives in Science Education

Elżbieta Barbara Ostrowska is the leader of the Science Section at the Educational Research Institute (IBE), holding a doctorate in natural sciences. Since 2009 she has been working in IBE in the project Quality and effectiveness of education - strengthening of institutional research capabilities. She is involved in educational and popularizing activities as well as she carries out quantitative and qualitative research on various aspects of science education. She is co-author of diagnostic educational tools project at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IFiS) titled “Polish PISA” (in 2008-2010). Since 2000 she has worked as scientific secretary of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), which in Poland was conducted by the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Scieces (IFiS). At present she is National Program Manager of the Polish edition of PISA and currently this programme is conducted by IBE.
