Dr Ross Hudson is a Research Fellow (Test Developer) in the Assessment and Reporting research program at the Australian Council for Educational Research.
Since joining ACER in 2008 Dr. Hudson has been working on a variety of assessment programs including; PAT Science (Progressive Achievement Tests in Science), ISA (International Schools Assessment), PISA (Program for International Student Assessment), IBT (International Benchmark Tests), the ASI Rio Tinto Big Science competition and the UAE NAP science testing program for the United Arab Emirates. The PAT Science project included an extensive review and comparison and correlation of each Australian states curriculum to map the items produced to the various curricula
Dr. Hudson has been managing the development of the Indian Progressive Achievement Scales(IPAS) with the ACER New Delhi office. This scale will provide Indian teachers with the ability to measure individual student development by utilising a series of normed assessment tools and involved an extensive evaluation of the CBSE Science curriculum statements.
Dr Hudson has been significantly involved in the development and management of the current ADEC EMSA Science assessments and has gained a thorough understanding of the Cycle 1 and 2 New model curricula.
Dr Hudson has presented papers at a number of science education conferences in both the USA and Europe. His particular field of interest is chemistry education and assessment.
Prior to joining ACER, Dr. Hudson has had considerable experience in Government, Private and Catholic schools in Victoria teaching and management positions. He has an extensive understanding Chemistry, Science and Mathematics curricula.
