Brett Moulding is currently the director of the Utah Partnership for Effective Science Teaching and Learning, and director of the Council of State Science Supervisors’ Building Capacity for State Science Education Project. He was a member of the leadership team for the Next Generation Science Standards and served on the Board on Science Education for the National Academy of Sciences from 2005 to 2011. He was a member of the NRC Committee that developed A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas. He is a member of the National Assessment of Educational Progress science committee. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and obtained a Master's of Education Degree from Weber State University and an Administrative Supervisory Certificate from Utah State University.
Brett was the State Science Education Specialist and Coordinator of Curriculum from 1993 to 2004 and then the State Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Utah State Office of Education until 2008. Prior to going to the Utah State Office of Education, he taught chemistry for 20 years at Roy High School in the Weber School District and served as the District Science Teacher Leader for eight years. He received the Governor’s “Teacher Recognition Award,” the “Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching,” the “Tandy Technology Educator Award,” and the “Award of Excellence” from the Governor’s Science and Technology Commission. He served on the Board at the Triangle Coalition, the NAEP 2009 Framework Committee, and was the President of the Council of State Science Supervisors from 2003 - 2006.
