Dr. Herena TorĂo holds a master's degree on renewable energy and a PhD on the field of solar thermal applications and energy efficiency in buildings.
She was working as a researcher for 5 years at the Fraunhofer Institute of Building Physics, before getting involved in the University of Oldenburg as a regular lecturer in 2011. Between 2011 and 2013 she was working as a regular lecturer and researcher on the department of technology education of the University of Oldenburg. In 2013 she became a researcher and regular lecturer in the Postgraduate Programme Renewable Energy of the University of Oldenburg. She is mainly involved in teaching courses in the fields of sustainability of RE, solar thermal, modelling and laboratory courses.
Her main research interests are student-centered teaching methods in the field of RE in higher education as well as sustainability issues related to the implementation of those technologies.
