María Martínez Chico currently works at the Department of Education, in the University of Almería (Spain). Maria does research and teaching in Teacher Education, specifically in Science Education. She is researcher in different national and regional projects, one of them is 'Sensociencia Project: Science with Sense, Sensors and Sensations’.
María graduated in Environmental Sciences – in 2007. Although she started researching in Solar Radiation, for the last 8 years, she has constantly been working in the field of Science Education mainly focusing on Pre-service Primary and Secondary School Teacher Training.
María has been working in different Spanish universities and has participating in many national and international Conferences. Different research stays in other universities (Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of Halle, University of Nicosia…) have improve her knowledge and skill, and increase her relationships with other experts and creating and new networks in her field. She has participated in in-service teachers training courses, and Science Fairs.
She has supervised lots of final degree dissertations as well as a PhD in Science Education. She participates as reviewer of relevant national and international journals. She has received different scholarships granted by the regional and national government that have allowed her to do her doctoral thesis, as well as travel to other countries to conduct research stays.
