Vassilios Tsiantos

Professor Tsiantos is currently a full professor at the Technological Educational Institute of East Macedonia and Thrace (TEI-EMT), Department of Electrical Engineering, Kavala, Greece. Moreove, he is Vice-President of the Hellenic Quality Assurance & Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (HQAA).

He has a degree in Mathematics (Thessaloniki University, Greece), an MSc in Mathematical Modelling (Manchester Metropolitan University, Manchester, UK, 1996), and an MPhil in Queueing Network Models (University of Bradford, Bradford, UK, 1997). His PhD thesis is on Numerical Methods for Ordinary Differential Equations in Micromagnetic Simulations (the Manchester University, Department of Computer Science, Manchester, UK, 2000). He has published over than 50 papers and been cited by over than 900 scientists (Google Scholar). He has participated, either as coordinator or member of the research team, in over than 15 research projects. His research interests are on numerical methods, numerical micromagnetics, teaching of mathematics, quality assurance and accreditation in higher education.
As a professor at the TEI-EMT, he has gained valuable experience in teaching and leading undergraduate final year thesis (over 30 projects) and MSc dissertations. In addition to classroom instruction, he has advised students on appropriate research topics and edited and evaluated their work. Moreover, he taught at postgraduate level courses on Mathematics for Engineers with Matlab (MSc in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Department of Electrical Engineering), and Reservoir Simulation (MSc in Oil and Gas Technology, Department of Oil and Gas Technology). He has also taught various subjects in Mathematics (Mathematics I, II, and III, Game Theory, Numerical Methods for Engineers, Optimisation Techniques, Stochastic Methods) and Matlab (Erasmus exchange visitor at UAS Technikum Wien). He has also written two books on Mathematics and Matlab (in Greek).

He has also created a very active Web Page under moodle platform for the lectures he teaches on "Mathematics II and III", including videos, quizes, etc., at the Department of Industrial Informatics, which was having excellent comments by hundreds of students.
