Dr. Lilian Pozzer is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Pozzer teaches at the Bachelor of Education Program at the Faculty of Education, at the Post-Baccalaureate Degree Program in Education and at the Master's and Doctoral levels in the graduate programs. Her teaching focuses especially on teaching methods in senior (high school) and middle years (grades 5-8) Science, including STEM and sociocultural and historical perspectives on Science. She conducts research on classroom communication in science, particularly the integration of multimodal resources in teaching and learning science. Dr. Pozzer is also interested and has expertise in semiotic analysis of visual illustrations (inscriptions) in science, as well as discourse analysis and socio-cultural studies in science education. Her current interests include teaching science for social justice and sustainable future, STEM education, and literacy in science.
