Fotou Nikolaos is third year PhD student in the University of Leeds, school of education, centre for research in science and mathematics education. Fotou Nikolaos studied physics at the University of Crete. As an undergraduate student, he worked as a teacher assistant in mechanics and electromagnetism labs in the University of Crete. After graduating from the physics department Nikolaos Fotou started working in a private school for two years teaching physics, chemistry and biology. He worked with students from primary and secondary education aged from 10-16. Nikolaos Fotou took his master course on science education at the University of Leeds and he started a PhD course at the University of York where he successfully completed two academic years as research postgraduate student. He has recently been transferred to the University of Leeds. So far Fotou Nikolaos has been involved as project research assistant in the Wellcome project (university of York). He has participated in the ESERA Conference in Cyprus 2013 giving a paper on the role of analogies in non scientific reasoning. Also, he delivered a seminar at the CSSME seminar series (university of Leeds) regarding how students make predictions in situations they have not considered before.
