Ian Abrahams is Associate Professor of Science Education at the Centre for Studies in Science and Mathematics Education at the University of Leeds.
He is a qualified physics teacher, has a BSc in Physics, Masters degrees in Philosophy and also in Education and has a PhD in Education from the University of York. After holding positions at both The Institute of Education, University of London and then the University of York he is now based at the University of Leeds in the UK.
Ian is interested in all aspects of practical work and, in particular, it effectiveness and affective value. He has led, and been involved in, various national educational evaluations and is currently leading an evaluation of a large-scale CPD project using a mixed methods approach that incorporates one of the largest uses of Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs) in educational research to date in the UK.
Ian has collaborated with colleagues from Israel, Germany, Singapore and Turkey
