Chiaki Sekiguchi Bems

Chiaki Sekiguchi Bems is a lecturer at Riga Business School / Riga Technical University where she teaches Humanities to Computer Science and Business students. She teaches AI ethics, US History/The Diversity in the United States Requirement (articulated in the SUNY, Buffalo curriculum), and critical thinking essays.

She holds a Ph.D. from SUNY Buffalo (Fulbright Scholarship, Poetics Program) with her dissertation focused on the American poet Marianne Moore. She obtained her Master's degree in English from Rikkyo University, Japan.

She serves as a technical and editorial assistant for the Marianne Moore Digital
Archive at the University at Buffalo, and is learning about digital humanities.

Her research interests include science education, AI ethics, scientific progress and poetry, American modernism, and Haiku/Tanka.

She teaches Haiku and Tanka to children at the Washington Japanese Language School.
