Nicolas Duquenne is a French secondary teacher working in the European School of Brussels 2 as a biology and integrated science teacher.
He graduated in Biology and Geology from the University of Lille in 1998. Since then, for the last 24 years, he has constantly been working in the field of education
From 1998 to 2008 he worked in different lower and higher secondary schools in France. During 5 consecutive years he was involved in professional continuous monitoring for new teachers. From 2008 to 2017, he was seconded by French authorities to the European School in Brussel. He is now currently hired by the same school as Biology and Laboratory teacher.
During his abroad professional experience, Nicolas is involved in many educational projects: Promoting the Inquiry-based science for a conference organised in Athens 2017 by Scientix, author and reviewer of pedagogical scenarios about nature-based solutions under the supervision of European SchoolNet. He also is the author of a comparative study between International Baccalaureate and French National Baccalaureate in Biology. Member of the organisation of European School Science Symposium during several years, he gains expertise in the field of organisation of international events.
With English colleagues, he co-designs and co-teaches the Climate Academy. This transdisciplinary programme is awarded by Erasmus + for 2 different projects: one is orientated toward climate refugees, another called “Writing’s in on the Wall” is dedicated to Art and Climate Science.
In addition of his teaching tasks, Nicolas is teachers ‘representative. He develops communication and cooperation skills with different partners.
