Stefane Schlunk is Chair of Science on Stage Europe - the European network for STEM teachers - and the Managing Director of Science on Stage Germany; both non-profit organisations.
She holds a degree in Political Sciences from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (IEP) and the Freie Universität Berlin.
Since 2003, Stefanie has been the Managing Director of Science on Stage Germany, headquartered in Berlin. In this role, she has been responsible for developing multilingual teaching materials on current educational topics, including artificial intelligence, sustainable development, and the improvement of language skills in STEM education. Under her coordination, several teaching resources have been published to support educators in Germany in beyond (www.science-on-stage.eu/teachingmaterials).
In 2011, Stefanie was elected as Chair of Science on Stage Europe, the leading network for STEM teachers across Europe, reaching 100,000 educators in 34 countries. She oversees the initiation and coordination of cross-border activities such as the European Science on Stage Festivals, now in their 14th year. She also initiates and manages teacher workshops, competitions, and international collaborative projects. Her efforts have facilitated the exchange of best practice teaching ideas among educators in over 30 countries.
Stefanie has developed and coordinated partnerships with a wide range of organisations across Europe, including universities, public authorities and businesses. She is the main contact for partners and supporters and manages communication with member countries and the many volunteers involved in both networks.
Her commitment to STEM education has been recognized on several occasions. In particular, she participated in a high-level panel with policy makers from across the EU, including the EU Commissioner for Education, at the European Education Summit 2021. She was also a member of the policymaker and stakeholder board of the European project "path2integrity”, represents Science on Stage in various EU projects such as Code4Europe/EU Code Week or the EU STEM Coalition, and was nominated by the German Mathematical Society (DMV) as a "Maths Maker" in 2023. Several European projects that she and her team have coordinated have been selected by the European Commission as examples of best practice.
Areas of expertise: Transnational collaboration, team work, fundraising and corporate collaboration, international project planning and management, strategic STEM development and promotion of STEM education at different levels.
