Dr. Martina Dickson holds a PhD from the University of London. She is currently the Chair of Undergraduate Programs at Emirates College for Advanced Education in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In addition, she teaches science education courses and has held a variety of teaching and advisory positions over thirteen years in Greece, Oman, Hong Kong and the UAE. She was an Educational Advisor to government schools in the UAE for four years from 2007-2011.
Her research interests and recent publications include science pedagogy, students and teachers’ anxiety about learning science, educational reform, novice Emirati teachers and gender issues in science education. Her most recent work and publications have investigated the science self-efficacy of pre-service teachers, as well as that of teachers in government primary schools in Abu Dhabi, and how these perceoptions affect classroom practice. She is presently pursuing an MA in Education and International Development at The Institute of Education, London, UK.
