Dominic Albao

Dominic Albao is a University Researcher under the IMBUE project of Dr. Jan Michael Yap at the Philippine Genome Center, University of the Philippines System, a genomics-focused and multidisciplinary institution which combines basic and applied research for the development of health and therapeutic products and services, improve the competitiveness of our agriculture and aquatic resources through research. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of the Philippines Diliman, where he teaches laboratory courses in biophysics and bioinformatics.

As University Researcher under IMBUE, Dominic worked on developing educational strategies to teaching bioinformatics to undergraduates from life and computational sciences. He designed lecture courses to teach individuals with varying educational backgrounds in molecular biology and biochemistry, and bioinformatics analyses. During his stint under the IMBUE project, he trained over 100 young Filipino scientists as bioinformaticians-to-be.

Dominic graduated his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2015 and 2018, respectively.
