Atsushi Fujihira

Atsushi Fujihira is a professor at the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, Nihon University. He specializes in pedagogy.

After graduating from Dokkyo University in 1987 with a degree in foreign languages, he taught at a public high school for 20 years. During that time (2003-2005), he was sent by the Saitama Prefectural Board of Education to the graduate school of Joetsu University of Education to obtain a master's degree while holding the status of an in-service teacher.
For 12 years from 2007, he worked as a researcher at the National Institute for Educational Policy Research (NIER) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), where he conducted research that contributed to national educational policies.

Since 2019, he has been working as a professor at Nihon University's College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, where he conducts research activities focusing on pedagogy (especially extra-curricular education) and provides guidance to students who aspire to become teachers.

As a member of the Special Review Committee of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Dr. Fujihira is deeply involved in the development of young researchers, and is also engaged as a board member of a Japanese academic organization (Japan Society for Student Teaching).

In addition, as a member of the government (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)), he has been engaged in research and studies that contribute to national educational policies, and continues to serve as a public member of various local governments throughout Japan, providing guidance and advice on (their) educational policies.

In particular, he has been involved in the issues of bullying and truancy as the chairperson of five local governments.

In addition, they are lecturing on pedagogy as part-time lecturers at four universities other than their main school.

As described above, he is involved in public institutions, research institutes, research centers, and universities as an instructor and advisor.

As for the results of his own research, he has published 61 papers, 35 books and other publications, and has lectured on more than 500 topics.
