Abstract
This research lies at the intersection of education, technology and organisational politics. It looks at the identity politics of the field of educational technology particularly within the Arab-speaking region, seeking to determine what is included in this field or excluded from it. The research question (What are the parameters and confines of the educational technology field in the Arab-speaking region?) was addressed by a partial Delphi method, surveying in two rounds the views of experts on the matter. These scholars were found to exhibit substantial disagreement, suggesting collective uncertainty regarding three key aspects of the field: the most appropriate name for the field, the use of key terms in the field and its relationship with other fields. This lack of clarity suggests that the boundaries of educational technology are blurred and that the identity of the field is unstable. The article discusses the ramifications of this instability and concludes with some recommendations.
