ICT-Based Strategies for Teaching and Learning (T-L) in Lesson and Unit Plans Designed by Colombian Teachers in a Program of Educational Innovation

Abstract

During the years 2015 to 2016, the Ministry of National Education of Colombia and an alliance headed by National University of Colombia and The Cundinamarca Government made a training process for teachers under the blended learning approach, entitled "CREATIC: Inspire, Create and Design Learning with ICT ". In this process were involved more than 6000 teachers from public schools located in the area of ​​influence of Regional Center for Educational Innovation Center, CIER, which came from rural and urban sector.

This research analyzed a sample of 547 units plans designed for these teachers in the subjects of mathematics, language, science, technology and other. The objective of this study was to evaluate the ratio between using ICT based strategies for teaching and learning (T-L), with use of digital resources, planning the active participation of students and mediating role of the teacher in teaching.

The analyzes indicate a ratio between planning T-L strategies as inquiry and structuring information with use of digital educational resources, and mediation activities by the teacher (like feedback on creative process or exercises application of knowledge). Similarly, planning inquiry  like  T-L strategy  appears related with allocate activities contextualization of their learning, knowledge application exercises and creative processes to student.

Furthermore, when considering the differences between rural and urban educational institutions, there is a strong correlation between planning activities applying knowledge and assign students tasks involving structuring information and creative processes. Also, it was established a difference in planning activities such as communication and collaboration, which correlate with teaching mediation in urban areas and to allocate to students, activities contextualization of their learning and creative processes, in rural areas.
