The Future of Individual Classes

Abstract
We started with 2 deeply held core convictions:
1/ In order to efficiently learn a second language, nothing is more efficient than having individual classes, based on a maximum focus of direct interaction with a qualified native speaker dedicated to the learner and able to direct his training based on the learner's weaknesses.
Group sessions, or any stand-alone elearning solution cannot recreate that precious speaking and experience time. After all, language is the art of communication. True communication cannot be achieved with an unsupported elearning product and focused teacher-student communication cannot be achieved in a group setting.
2/ We live in a fast moving world, where people are demanding a maximum of efficiency, with fewer constraints, higher flexibility and personalization. This is why providing a complete one to one education with very few fixed rules is becoming key for finding an audience.
We decided, five years ago, to develop a complete solution to merge the best of individual face-to-face classes, with the best practices and integrated elearning services possible around this core offer.
We endeavoured to consider each learner as a unique case with a specific:
- profile: student, employee...?
- motivation: why learning and what to focus on...?
- agenda: how to ensure attendance?
- capacity to learn: how to adapt the training to his abilities and expectations?
- location: how to ensure we can reach him as expected?
We also consider each corporate client as a unique case having different expectations and ways of carrying out language training for their staff based on their specific needs and scheduling constraints. Within the framework of the corporate client we also considered the additional needs of the individual learner.
Conclusion:
We've created a complete solution, starting from pedagogic content to a comprehensive learning management system, targeting three markets:
- corporate: Companies needing to work in an increasingly globalized economy
- training organisms: a customized plug and play solution adapted for "partners" who wish to propose remote classes, with maximum customisation possibilities.
- Individuals: Desire to improve their marketable skills
