The Online Education - DDLUB'S Objectives for the Near Future

Abstract
The acronym DDLUB will be used to identify the Department for Distance Learning of the University of Bucharest, Romania. The University of Bucharest, established in 1864, has been actively contributing to the development and modernization of Romanian education, science and culture. The DDLUB Department was established in 1999, based on the University’s Senate Decision, with responsibilities in designing, implementing and developing the distance learning system (acronym DL) within University of Bucharest.
Early in 2014, the founders of DDLUB took into consideration the new trends in higher education, especially the development of online-education; consequently, they have launched a number of initiatives in this area. The present article is aiming to outline the DDLUB's progresses up to date and the vision for the next future.
In the first chapter, the author will present some DDLUB achievements in the context of Romanian Distance Learning system for HE.
The second chapter will present some initiatives developed based the “cloud computing” concept, implemented during the period 2014-2016, within DDLUB and the feedback received from the students and DDLUB staff.
The 3rd chapter will include details on the DDLUB'S objectives for the near future academic activities.
The final chapter, Conclusions, will synthesize the points of view of the author concerning the necessity to implement the online system of education, within RO-HE system. Hopefully, these initiatives will keep us in the European and worldwide circuit of values and DL competencies.
