Abstract
A student record is defined as any written information about a student and can be described in terms of their content maintenance, use and storage medium. The purpose of this research paper is to come out with an effective and efficient student record system that would involve ICT usage. ICT usage in student records has been seen to be minimal in the case of University of Ibadan after having analyzed the existing system. For the effective functioning of University of Ibadan, the maintenance of historical, extensive, accurate and current data about individual students is essential. Though there exists a system already in place, users and stakeholders are disenchanted with it due to not being able to have certain functionalities or the delay in coming out with a report. Different departments have their own systems independent of the main system thereby no synchronization of these systems. To be able to come out with a system that meets the requirements of users and stakeholders (Students, NABPTEX, NCTE, Heads of Departments, Deans, Administrators, etc), inputs were sort through interviews and questionnaires. It is envisaged that with implementation of the new system proposed in this paper, University of Ibadan, Nigeria would be able to undertake updates when its operations, processes or business requirements change.
