Abstract
Instrumental education, via bringing the instrumental technique and musical behaviors in the student, can be defined as process of forming the desirable behavior in the student. Certainly, etudes, with their structures toward bringing the technical and musical behaviors with small form in the student, hold an important place in the instrumental education. That the works to be performed include parallel behaviors with the studied etudes in the recent period will engender the positive results in terms of performance. In this direction, the aim of the study is to determine at what degree the etudes in clarinet curriculum, conservatory level of license 1, show parallelism with the works taking place in the same curriculum in aspect of the target behaviors. On this purpose, the book “Paul Jean-Jean 20 etudes” and Poulenc Sonata, as a performance work, were examined by the method of content analysis and the target behaviors were determined and encoded. The values of weighted average, percent, and frequency identified in the etude and work were determined by using SPSS program and the relationship between the behaviors was measured. By evaluating the results of study based on the findings, some solution suggestions were presented.
