Abstract
After the end of the Second World War, innovations in every field made it necessary for people to quest something cheap and useful in order to meet the needs of the growing population. Therefore, a massive increment in plastic production occurred during the Second World War which can be explained as the origin point of todays microplastic pollution. But as soon as scientists understood the serious effects of this major damage to the nature, they searched for various ways of treatments to heal the world by informing people about it.
The 6Rs of waste management is an effective way at schools for raising awareness and taking actions about the problem that humanity started and willing to end. In the 6Rs concept, each “R” stands for a specific progress which can be ordered as Rethink, Refuse, Reuse, Reduce, Repair and Recycle respectively. In this review, the precautions taken against plastic and microplastic pollution in middle schools and high schools in Turkey will be mentioned. Different aspects of these measures from those taken in different countries will be discussed and new suggestions will be made for future steps.
