The Future of Education

Nigel Coutts is the Year Six Coordinator at Redlands. He is a passionate believer in life-long learning and enjoys opportunities to share ideas with other teachers. His areas of interest include, empowering student agency, design thinking, making, and teaching for understanding. He has experience in Gifted and Special Needs Education and with ‘Making Thinking Visible’. His students are encouraged to engage with their learning through rich, collaborative learning experiences that build the skills they will require to succeed in their futures. The culture of his classroom supports thinking and reflection while encouraging a growth mindset and an understanding that learning is an iterative process. He has presented at two international conferences most recently in Florence where he presented a paper titled ‘From Personal Passions to Teaching for Innovation’. He shares his thoughts on learning through his blog ‘The Learners Way’ and is currently completing his Masters in Advanced Practices in Learning and Teaching through Macquarie.
