Dr. Ellen Whitford has earned degrees in education that include the Doctor of Education in Educational Theory, Policy, and Administration, from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; a Master of Education in Reading from Arcadia University in Pennsylvania; and a Bachelor of Arts in English Education, from the University of Delaware. She also completed the Institute for Educational Management at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
She has served as the Vice President and Dean of Faculty at Armstrong State University in Savannah, George and Interim Provost at Central Connecticut State University. She was the Dean of Education and Professional Studies at Central Connecticut State University and Chair of the Education Department in the Seidel School of Education and Professional Studies, Salisbury Maryland. She has taught English and worked as a high school reading specialist in the public schools in Pennsylvania. Currently she enjoys her role as Professor of Education at Armstrong State University where she teaches graduate level courses in Research, Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and serves on the Institutional Review Board.
She has published in areas of Education Law, University Administration, Global Education, Educational Technology, and the Professional Development School. She has developed a doctoral program in Educational Leadership as well as Master of Education degree programs in Teacher Education, Teacher Leadership, Educational Leadership, and Curriculum and Instruction. She has been awarded over $3 million dollars for grant funded research in areas related to technology, worker re-training, professional development schools, and teacher education. She has done extensive research in areas of genealogy and family history.
Dr. Whitford has pursued her interest in global education through the development of courses in international curriculum and programs for study abroad. She has served on international advisory boards and scientific committees for international conferences, and has given presentations at international conferences in Barcelona, Jamaica, and London.
