Kimihiro Irie is professor of English education at the Faculty of Humanities, Shigakukan University, Japan. He received an M.A. in applied language studies (computing) from the University of Kent at Canterbury. Returning to Japan, he started his career at Tokoha Gakuen University. After teaching there for six years, he came back to his hometown and now holds his current position. He is director of the e-Learning Committee at the University, promoting the use of tablet computers, interactive whiteboards, Moodle, and e-Portfolio. Every summer, he organises a seminar on digital textbooks for high school teachers.
He has worked on research using ICT in teaching English. His current research interests include digital textbooks, foreign textbooks, tablet computers, and flipped learning.
