Naomi De-Malach has taught literature at all levels, from primary school to university, in Israel and the United States.
Naomi earned her M.A from Brandeis University in 1987, and her PhD from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 2004. Her major interests are social and political aspects of the teaching of literature. Her book Lo al Ha-Yofi Levado, (Beyond Aesthetics), was published in 2008, and is concerned with critical pedagogy and the teaching of literature in Israeli high schools. It was awarded the Yizhar Prize for 2009.
In the last 15 years she has been training teachers at Oranim Academic College, teaching adult and children’s literature and critical pedagogy.
Naomi is a co-chair of the Department for Civil Society Action at the college.
