Associate professor Dr. Gunvor B. Wilhelmsen is Doctor of Special Needs Education and employed at the Faculty of Education, Bergen University College. She has been working in the field of education and rehabilitation in schools and resource centers.
Her research is focusing on vision functions, vision disturbances and the rehabilitation and stimulation of vision. In addition, children's visual development and the role of vision qualities in activities and participation is part of her research field. The last years she has developed two new continuing professional developments (CPD) at Bergen University College. The first one is focusing on vision related reading problems and the development of vision, and the second deals with vision rehabilitation after brain injuries and neurological illnesses. Students from all Nordic countries are educated in these subjects. Dr. Wilhelmsen is often giving lectures for educators and health personnel.
