Prof. Olga Vinogradova is an Associate Professor at the School of Linguistics, responsible for teaching EFL, Academic English and Use of the Learner Corpus courses.

Olga graduated from Moscow State University in the field of Theoretical and Structural Linguistics in 1976, and then from the Doctoral Studies Programme at the Institute of Language Studies (Russian Academy of Sciences) in 1980. For the last 27 years, she has been teaching English, first at the secondary school for the gifted students, then at the Russian University for the Humanities, and since 2011 at the Higher School of Economics.

Olga is one of the founders of the first Russian learner corpus called REALEC, the only one in Russia freely available for researchers. For the last three years she has been consulting EFL instructors from other departments of the Higher School of Economics and from other universities in Moscow on the benefits of using learner corpora in L2 acquisition.

Olga is also the author of the curriculum design for the course of debates in English for students of the Master Programme at the Higher School of Economics and is one of the instructors in the course Shakespeare Texts Analysis for the Bachelor Programme students.

Her book, Exam Success, co-authored with Wayne Rimmer, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2013. It has been successfully used by students graduating from secondary school in their preparation for Russian State Exam in English.

Areas of expertise: EFL, grammar and vocabulary practice in L2 acquisition, corpora studies in linguistics, learner corpora design, higher education, languages for specific purposes, lexical typology.
