Carol Thompson is Professor of Communication at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Professor Thompson has recently published, along with Michael Kleine, in the Journal of Innovative Higher Education, Journal of Pedagogy, and the International Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. She has also published numerous times in Communication Education. She wrote and edited the text for the basic course in communication, Insights into Communication. Carol has won several university-wide awards for teaching, and a regional award for teaching, the John I.Sisco Award for Teaching given by the Southern States Speech Association. Carol and colleague Michael also opened the first academy for teaching and learning at UALR, the Academy for Teaching and Learning Excellence. She has presented workshops and talks on communication issues in over 15 countries including England, Ireland, Scotland, Hungary, Germany, and Japan. Recently she presented a paper at the National Communication Society promoting the study of ethics within the entire discipline of communication. Carol has taught for over 30 years, 28 of which she has team-taught a course on Rhetoric and Communication for the Donaghey Scholar’s program with Professor Michael Kleine.
