Julian is a senior lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Lincoln where he teaches on the doctoral and PGCE programmes, and am now Postgraduate Research leader. Prior to this he was an educational developer with responsibility for introducing and supporting a virtual learning environment across a whole institution.
He received his doctorate on the interface between educational development units and academic staff in 2010, and has only recently made the transition to an academic post. His research interests are around how academic staff and students make use of technology to promote learning, the effects of technological provision on students' attitudes, in particular the growth of attendance monitoring systems in higher education, and how virtual learning environments are best managed to promote learning.
He also has an interest in social media provision and using innovative approaches to teaching, through the development of online seminars for distance learning.
