Ángela María Gamboa is a professor at Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios located in Bogotá, Colombia with specific expertise in foreign language teaching and teaching training.

Ángela graduated from the Bachelor in Spanish and Foreign Language Teaching from Universidad Pedagógica Nacional in 2006. Then, she obtained her Master in Foreign Language Teaching from Universidad Pedagógica Nacional in 2013. She has been a teacher for 13 years and she has experience in teaching English to students of different ages in language institutes, secondary and elementary education. From 2006 to 2011 she worked as an English teacher in a private institution. In 2012 Ángela worked in a bilingual school teaching English and sciences in English, fostering teaching processes through content-based approach.

In 2013 she started her experience teaching students from the Bachelor program at Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios helping them to become future English teachers.

Ángela is an expert in language teaching methodologies, linguistics, applied linguistics and language teachers’ beliefs. For over 5 years she has taught linguistic and methodology courses such as CDA, sociolinguistics, linguistics, theories and approaches in language teaching, methodology and didactics in English, teaching skills, assessment and CLIL. Moreover, she has been in charge of research courses and has participated in research projects regarding teachers’ beliefs and reflective practice. She has led research projects in the same areas.

In addition, Ángela has been tutor and evaluator of thesis in undergraduate programs. Additionally, she has participated as a speaker in national and international conferences.

Ángela published the article “Reading Comprehension in an English as a Foreign Language Setting: Teaching Strategies for Sixth Graders Based on the Interactive Model of Reading in Folios journal in 2017, and she has written proceedings in the 11° Congreso Internacional de Educación Superior in 2018.

Areas of expertise: Reflective practice, teachers’ beliefs, sociolinguistics, CDA, didactics and learning strategies.
