Mihail Calalb is associated professor at the Chair of Theoretical and Experimental Physics of Tiraspol State University, the oldest higher education institution in the Republic of Moldova, focused mainly on teacher education and training.

Mihail has graduated the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Tiraspol State University in 1990, has Ph. D in theoretical physics from the Institute of Applied Physics in Chisinau, and holds MBA degree from Newport University, USA. For three decades he has been working constantly in the fields of education, theoretical physics and project management. In 1998 he created the Organization for Reform and Development of Educational System (ORDSE) and since then he has been its director.

Mihail has an extensive background as project developer and manager in the area of education, lifelong learning, youth and adult education. For about twenty years, with the support of international donors and partners, he has been developing in Moldova within ORDSE nation-wide educational projects for various beneficiary groups.

Mihail is the first director of e-Twinning program in Moldova and has involved 150 local teachers in international projects. As director of Expertise Council of Moldavian Academy of Science he has elaborated the evaluation procedure for scientific research projects.

Mihail is the director of scientific research project EDUSCIENCE focused on inquiry-based learning, digitalized learning environments, learning by doing, STEM and other constructivist approaches in education. Within EDUSCIENCE he organizes annually international workshop for teachers Digitalized Classroom. He also runs two research projects supported by NATO Science for Peace and Security Program.

As a theoretical physicist, Mihail is specialized in high temperature superconductivity. A recent his monograph published in 2017 is entitled The Microscopic Theory of Magnetic and Superconducting Properties of High-Tc Anisotropic Compounds. Mihail also teaches theoretical physics courses at university.
