Sanita Grasmane is a graduate of the study programme External Relations of Organisations provided by the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LLU, in Latvian) and holds a professional Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration.
Her research interests focus on diverse aspects of cross-cultural competence and development of awareness of culture of Francophone countries. She is a co-author of three research articles published in Great Britain (2011), the USA (2011) and Latvia (2011), and a poster presentation in the conference “Rethinking Education (RED) (Switzerland, 2012).
She was awarded a grant by the Swiss Research Council for participation in the conference RED (2012).
Sanita Grasmane has developed her cross-cultural skills through academic studies, supplemented by independent studies of research literature and visits to the UK, Sweden and Germany.
In 2007, she initiated the first international event dedicated to French culture and organized it for students and academic staff of LLU. It was a seminar followed by a workshop and attended also by representatives from the French Embassy (based in Riga).
Since 2009, Sanita Grasmane has been the author of the annual projects dedicated to the development of awareness of Francophone culture, and also a member of the project team implementing cross-cultural, international voluntary projects in cooperation with the French and Canadian Embassies.
Areas of expertise: culture and history of Francophone countries, planning international cross-cultural projects.
