Ilana is a doctoral student in the Faculty of Education—in Educational Theory and Practice: Curriculum and Pedagogy—at Simon Fraser University. Her research interests focus on future education-related topics, non-linear curriculum, contemporary teaching strategies, students’ engagement, technology integration, and instructional design.

Ilana is the founder of IVRILA Education – an online teaching/learning mediated environment for teaching Hebrew as an additional language that provides teachers with (a) a dynamic, modular- thematic, and flexible curriculum (b) introduction to digital tools and examples of how to integrate them and (c) contemporary teaching strategies (e.g., project-based learning, flipped class, etc.). In addition, Ilana is a school consultant for teaching Hebrew as an additional language and mentors teachers of Hebrew developing language curriculum aligned with the proficiency approach principals and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) guidelines.

In 2014, Ilana was elected to serves as the Canada Region Coordinator of The Council for Hebrew Language and Culture in North America. – A voluntary role she holds for philanthropic reasons of empowering teachers and promoting progressive pedagogy.
